If you’re exploring the Maine coast with your pup in tow, McLoons Lobster Shack is the perfect place to stop for lunch. Set right on the harbor with incredible views of the water and working fishing boats, this spot has plenty of picnic tables and open seating areas where you and your dog can relax and enjoy the fresh ocean air. The atmosphere is as casual and welcoming as it gets, and it’s clear they’ve designed the space with plenty of room for visitors—two-legged and four-legged alike. Add in the fact that their lobster roll was hands down one of the best we’ve ever had, and it’s no wonder this place has become such a favorite for locals and travelers alike.
Getting to McLoons is an experience in itself. The winding drive takes you along postcard-worthy stretches of road, passing sparkling water views and charming Maine scenery that make the journey part of the adventure. We even went out of our way—driving 30 minutes extra each way—and it was 100% worth it. Between the jaw-dropping harbor views, the welcoming and dog-friendly setup, and the lobster roll of a lifetime, McLoons Lobster Shack is the kind of place that belongs on every Maine road trip itinerary. It’s the perfect blend of authentic coastal charm and unbeatable food, making it a must-stop if you’re anywhere nearby.
